Duolingo is a popular language-learning platform that offers free, gamified lessons in over 40 languages. Launched in 2011, it uses bite-sized exercises, interactive quizzes, and a reward system (like points and streaks) to help users learn vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. Accessible via mobile app and web, Duolingo uses AI to personalize learning paths and is widely used by beginners and casual learners.
THE BRIEF
For this personal project, I created a stylized 3D sculpt of Duo, Duolingo’s iconic owl mascot, reimagined in a muscular "ripped" version. The sculpting process began in Nomad Sculpt for its intuitive mobile workflow, followed by detailing, retopology, and rendering in Blender. The goal was to explore character exaggeration and humor through anatomy and form, while maintaining the recognizable charm of the original mascot.
